寄付のご報告

大変遅くなりましたが、ワシントン州日米協会の主催で3月10日にシアトル・センターで開催された日本復興支援イベント 『Shout Out to Japan!』とそれ以降に集まった募金$1,010（JPY97,000）を5月8日付けであしなが育英会に寄付させていただきました。

これまでの日本赤十字への寄付2回とあしなが育英会への1回の寄付を合わせると、寄付額の合計は$18,465 (JPY147万6,612円)になります。

ご協力いただいたみなさん、ありがとうございました。

Do you remember the anniversary charity event “Shout Out to Japan!” which we helped back in March at Seattle Center?  We are sorry that it took such a long time, but we are happy to report that we donated $1,010（JPY97,000）to Ashinaga Ikueikai on May 8th! 3月10日（日）シアトルセンターで行われる震災復興イベント『Shout out to Japan! ~Cheers from Seattle~』 に、You can do it, Japan! も参加／協力することになりました。

震災の痛みはすでにアメリカのメディア上からは消え去り、かすかな軌跡といえば、福島原発の放射能汚染によるネガティブなイメージでしょうか･･････。しかし、それすらも多くのアメリカ人が記憶に留めているとは思えません。

そこで、今年もまたシアトルセンターに日本人／日系人コミュニティが集い、まずは日本に向けての応援メッセージを届けること、次にシアトルの人々にいまも被災地の復興は続いていること、まだまだ多くの方が「普段通り」の暮らしができていないことなどを、様々な形でみんなに知らせたい！　と、日米協会主催で二周年メモリアルを開催します。

日時：３／１０（日）午前１１時〜午後３時
場所：Fisher Pavilion, Seattle Center

コスプレ、カラオケ、合唱などのパフォーマンスあり、お馴染み『なでしこベーカリー』によるベイクセールあり、グッズセールあり、と盛りだくさん。ぜひお越しください。みんなでこの気持ちを日本に届けましょう！

We are thrilled to announce that You Can Do It, Japan! is going to participate ”Shout out to Japan! ~Cheers from Seattle~”, the second anniversary memorial service of the Great East Japan Earthquake at Seattle Center on Sunday, March 10. 

The event is organized by the Japan-America Society and its purpose is to remember the disaster victims in Japan and wish for a greater well-being of the wonderful nation.

Date：Sunday, March 10 @ 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Place：Fisher Pavilion, Seattle Center

Please come to send positive messages to disaster victims via live video feed through social networking services such as Twitter, Facebook, and Nico Nico Douga.

There are going to be great performances, fabulous bake sale, sales of charity goods and much much more!

Did I say that all volunteers at the event (nearly 100 people) will wear You Can Do It, Japan! T-shirts? How exciting is that?

A new total 募金合計

うれしいお知らせがあります。

8月に行われたワイナリーでのチャリティーコンサートを始め、アメリカと日本でのチャリティー活動の結果、先日「あしなが育英会（東日本大震災・津波遺児支援）」に$486 (37,898円)寄付することができたので報告させていただきます。


以下が寄付金の詳細です。

・8月のチャリティーコンサートで諸経費を引いた売り上げ　$119 (9,288円)

・イリノイ州のイサコさん経由で預かったショー夫人からの寄付金$100 (7,805円)

・日本のアキさんたちがによるフリマなどでの売り上げ $167 (13,000円)

・イリノイ州のイサコさんの知人による売り上げ$100(7,805円)

これにより、これまでの「あしなが育英会」と「日本赤十字社」への寄付額合計は$17,455 (137万9,612円) に達しました!

東日本大震災への人々の関心は、残念ながら徐々に薄れてきています。しかし、津波遺児が成人になるまで10年以上の歳月がかかり、継続したサポートが必要とされます。

私たちはこれからも地元のイベントに参加するなどして、細々とではありますが、チャリティー活動を続けていこうと思っています。

From the charity concert in Woodinville this summer and other sales both in Japan and US, we were able to donate $486 (37,898 yen) to Ashinaga Ikueikai, an organization to help orphaned children.

• Sales from the charity concert in August after expenses: $119 (9,288 yen)
• Donation from Mrs. Shaw, via Ms. Isako in Illinois: $100 (7,805 yen)

We have raised a total of $17,455 (1,379,612 yen) which was donated to Japan Red Cross and Ashinaga Ikueikai.

Even though most people have forgotten about the devastating tsunami and earthquake in March 2011, we would like to continue attending local charity events and raise as much money as possible.

It takes more than 10 years until an orphan becomes an adult and they need our continuous supports.

The Charity Concert at a Winery ワイナリーでのチャリティーコンサート

フェイスブックではお知らせしましたが、8月にシアトル近郊のウッディンビルで行われた「原田真二＆エミ・マイヤーのチャリティーコンサート」は大盛りあがり＆大成功でした。

私たちはYou can do it, Japan! のリストバンドやTシャツを販売したほか、エミ・マイヤーさんのCDの販売のお手伝いもしました。

The charity concert in August, at Mathews Winery in Woodinville, was a huge success!  
It featured singer songwriters Shinji Harada and Emi Meyer.  
We sold our wristbands and T-shirts, and also helped selling Emi's CDs.

子供時代にシアトルで何年か過ごしたという原田真二さん。リストバンドもつけてくれましたよ！
Mr. Harada, who spent a few years in Seattle when he was kid, wore our wristband!

会場では、小さいけれど大きな成果をあげてくれるかわいいお手伝いさんがいて、大活躍してくれました。
We had some little but big helpers at the Event. The cute helpers did great job!

今年の4月に東京小平市の小学校で、復興支援のイベント（フリーマーケット＆おもちつき）が行われました。Facebook でもお知らせしたのですが、覚えていますか？　

ブログを通じてYou can do it, Japan! のことを知った日本人女性のアキさんが、私たちの活動に賛同して、その復興支援イベントで私たちのリストバンドを販売してくれたのです！　
 

手作りのポスターでちゃんと主旨も説明してくれました(涙）

そのイベント後もコツコツと販売を続けてくれて、先日26本分の売り上げ1万3000円を「あしなが育英会」に寄付したことを報告してくれました！
 

アキさん、そして協力してくれた有志のみなさん、本当にお疲れ様でした＆ありがとう！

こうして支援の輪が広がっていくのはとっても喜ばしいことです。
ここアメリカでは、残念ながら日本の大震災のことは人々の記憶からすでに消え去ってしまっていますが、私たちも地道に活動を続けていきたいと思います。

Do you remember our Facebook post back in April?  About the charity event in Koiwai-city, Tokyo (flea market & mochi making)? 
As it turned out, Aki, who found out about You can do it, Japan! via this blog, liked our idea and sold the wristbands at the event (please see the first picture above).

 

She continued selling them at different local events and raised a total of 16000 yen (=26 wristbands), which was donated to Ashinaga Ikueikai, as shown in the 2nd picture.

Wonderful Surprise 素敵なサプライズ

You can do it, Japan!は多くのサポーターに支えられていますが、イリノイ州在住のウァーシンガー・いさこさん（Isako Wersinger）もプロジェクト発足以来、懇親的に協力してくれているひとり。
地元のイリノイ州で積極的にリストバンドを販売し、これまで約100個のリストバンドを売って＄500のチェックを送ってくれました。

いさこさんは地元でリストバンドを売るとき、「この街で1個$5は高い感じがするから」と、折り紙で鶴や箸置き作り、それをリストバンドに添えて販売しているそう（涙）。

そんなスイートないさこさんから、先日なんと100ドルの小切手が届いたのです！

いさこさんはご主人と共にMoose という団体に加盟してさまざまなボランティアをしており、リストバンドも主にそこのロッジで販売しています。

日本の復興を願い、手作りの折鶴や箸置きを添えてチャリティーリストバンドを販売しているいさこんさんの姿を見て、多くの人が感傷を受けたに違いありません。

あるご婦人（通称：ショー夫人）がいさこさんに、ある日You can do it, Japan!への寄付金として、100ドルもの小切手をくれたそうです。

なんでもそのショー夫人は、その１ヶ月前にご主人を亡くされたという未亡人。
You can do it, Japan! Projectは、東日本震災で親を失ってしまった子供たちをサポートすべく、集めた寄付金はすべて「あしなが育英会」に寄付していますが、愛するご主人を失ったショー夫人は、親を失った子供たちに格別な想いをはせることになったのかもしれません。
100ドルものお金をいさこさんに託してくれたのです。

いさこさんはその時の想いをご自身のブログでこう綴っています。

「１００ドルは中流生活のアメリカ人にとっては大きな額。
それをほとんどの人々から消え去ってしまっている東日本大震災の為に寄付してくださるとは･･････。
思いもしなかったショー婦人からの暖かい想いに胸が熱くなり、彼女の慈善の気持ちを自分の中でも大切に育てて生きたいと思った。」

私達も、ショー夫人の善意の気持ちを大切にすると共に、その善意の気持ちの原動力になってくれたいさこさんに、心から感謝したいと思います。

お預かりした100ドルは、間違いなく「あしなが育英会」に送りますので。

We are supported by a lot people. One of the “You can do it, Japan!” supporters is Isako Wersinger in Illinois.  She has helped us since the beginning of the project.  

She has sold more than 100 wristbands and sent us a check for $500.  When she sells the wristbands, she also adds origami cranes or chopstick rests she makes, because she thinks $5 per wristband is a bit expensive to most people in her hometown.

She and her husband volunteer for an organization called Moose and wristbands are sold at the lodge.
Many people must have appreciated her efforts to sell wristbands with her original origamis in order to raise money for Japan’s recovery from the earthquake and tsunami.

We received another check from Itsuko recently. 
She told us that a lady in Moose (Mrs. Shaw) gave her a check of $100. 

According to Isako, Mrs. Shaw lost her husband a month ago.  She might have felt sympathy for children who lost their parent (s) in the disaster in Japan as she was feeling her loss of her beloved husband (as we announced in spring, we now donate money to Ashinaga Ikueikai, an organization helping orphaned children).

Isako describes her reaction to the check in her blog.

“$100 is a lot of money for middle-class Americans.  But, she donated that money to the relief efforts for the Great East Japan Earthquake, which has disappeared from people’s memories a long time ago. 
I was moved by Mrs. Shaw’s generousity, and I thought I can learn from her devotion to charity.”

We also really appreciate Mrs. Shaw’s generosity and would like to thank Isako for being a driving force behind it.
